More Information
The Side-by-Side Trike accommodates 2 riders at a time, as long as their heights are between 4'10" to 6'3". Since the seats independently adjust, adults and children can ride at the same time. The unique side-by-side design lets two people enjoy each other's company while riding together, making the therapeutic trike perfect for a caregiver and a special needs rider. Not only does the Side-by-Side Trike provide an excellent source of exercise, but it also gets the rider out of the house and exploring the community. This inclusive activity promotes the development of motor skills, balance, communication, coordination, and endurance.
Each rider powers the wheels on their own side. This means that both riders do not have to be pedaling in order to make the bike go. Unlike a tandem bike, the pedal cranks do not turn simultaneously. With the Side-by-Side Trike, each user pedals at their own pace when they want. Each rider also controls their own gear shifter, allowing each rider to select the gear that they are most comfortable using. Three independent brakes ensure a safe stop. Each rider can stop the trike by simply pedaling backward with the coaster brakes on each side, or an automotive style drum brake built into the cycle's front wheel is controlled by a hand-lever on the steering tiller's center. This lever also serves as a parking brake.
Please note that the electrical assist model is only one (1) speed
