What is Electrotherapy?

Electrotherapy is the therapeutic use of electricity for medical treatment to promote healing. The treatments are commonly used to relieve pain, relax muscles, reduce swelling, and speed up healing. Neck and back pain is frequently treated with electrotherapy, whether it is acute or chronic. One of the most common devices for this treatment is a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) unit. A TENS unit delivers a range of frequencies and can be set to match the comfort level of an individual. Electrotherapy may be used in conjunction with other techniques, such as ultrasound, exercise therapy, manipulation, and acupuncture. It is relatively pain free and has no significant negative side effects.

What are Pepin Electrodes?

Pepin electrodes are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes for electrotherapy. The two main types are the Elite and the Essential. The Elite electrodes use a uniquely-applied conductive pure silver layering system and specially designed pure copper lead wires with dispersive lug heads. This combination offers optimal electrical dispersion and conductivity to maximize an individual’s comfort. The Essential electrodes are for general use, combining quality with value. These cost-effective electrodes provide maximum reusability and comfort without sacrificing quality.

Each electrode is made with a dual layer of adhesive hydrogel to enhance its performance as well as offer maximum comfort. This also increases the life of each electrode for long-term reusability. A layer of pure silver is bonded to a layer of conductive carbon film for greater conductivity, reduced impedance, and uniform current dispersion. The combination of these materials prevents hot spots to improve an individual’s level of comfort.

The electrodes have extra-long lead wires with copper strands coated with tin for low impedance along with a dispersive lug head to help prevent wire pull-out. Their low profile design optimizes flexibility to allow the electrode to conform to the body’s contours. To make connection and disconnection easy, each wire socket has a molded grip. Pepin electrodes are available in many sizes and shapes as well as several choices of flexible and durable topcoat materials, such as white foam, tan tricot, tan spunlace, white spunlace, and cool blue. They are packaged in tamper-evident bags to assure the electrodes have not been altered.
