No one can sit in one position for too long. This is why Optima's Optimum Positioning Tilt-In-Space Chair is highly adjustable to accommodate a large range of positions. The tilt-in-space design features an independently operated adjustable elevated leg rest with adjustable foot support and adjustable seat depth. An adjustable reclining back accepts a variety of trunk and head positioning options. Drop arms and the removable backrest facilitate safer and easier lateral transfers and protect both the resident and caregiver from injury.

This chair's multilayered cushion has four layers of healthcare grade foam that feature varying densities and composition. This cushion directly addresses a range of issues that come with longer periods of sitting including heat, pressure, moisture, and shearing forces. Providing comfort and increasing autonomy eases agitation and can prevent wheelchair falls. This is a great alternative to the Geri chair.

How do I change the seat depth on this chair?

Answer: The seat depth can be adjusted by pulling the activation lever that is located at the front left of the seat and hold it while you move the seat forward or backward to obtain the required depth. After the desired position is reached release the activation lever.

How do I install the adjustable side wings to my chair?

Answer: The side wings can be installed by inserting the flat bar of the side wing into the mounting clip that is behind the upper section of the backrest, making sure to orient the long, narrow part of the side wing downwards. Then push until the retainer level clicks into place. Do the same for the other side and you're done!

As a caregiver, is it possible for me to tilt the chair from behind?

Answer: Yes, this is possible. To do this, ensure that the patient sitting in the chair is aware of the maneuver. Then grab the push bar with your right hand and then pull the far-left activation leaver with your left hand and apply the necessary downward pressure with both hands to tilt the chair. After the angle has been reached let go of the activation lever.
