The AmTryke AM-16 Therapeutic Tricycle is the largest size tryke that features a combination hand/foot drive that helps to build strength and coordination for a wide range of children with special needs. This trike features an adjustable seat, a safety steering lock pin, foot plates, and a rear steering feature, designed to provide customization and safety. Suitable for children 8 years of age and older, the AmTryke AM-16 Therapeutic Tricycle best fits those with a height of at least 41" and an inseam of 21 to 28 inches. It has a 16-inch front wheel with a flat-proof insert and 16-inch canted rear wheels with pneumatic tires for improved stability and mobility.
The adjustable seat and seat back move in four different ways (down, up, backward, and forwards), allowing the rider to adjust the seat to accommodate various leg lengths. The padded saddle seat is equipped with a 58-inch lap strap. The seat back is plastic and equipped with two 40 inch chest straps. The foot plates are equipped with a heel trap, instep and toe straps so that the rider's feet are secured to the pedals for additional safety while riding.
The safety steering lock pin gives parents the ability to control the direction that the child is traveling by locking the steering column to only allow the child to go straight, 20 degrees left/right, or freely steer in any direction. The loading lock allows for a safe and easy transfer of riders on and off of the tricycle. Parents can also control the steering with a rear steering feature that allows the parent to turn the tricycle in any direction. The rear steering converts to a push bar with the simple insertion of a pin.
